It is essential to utilize different types of light for different areas.  Just because you have found that perfect light you dreamed of doesn't mean it will solve any lighting issues you may have.  For instance in the kitchen the light that is used for safety at night, or preparing food is not the same type of light you would use for gatherings and entertaining.  The light you use to read would not be used as general light for a room.  These are some factors that need to be taking into consideration when designing a room.  When you do you will use three types of light, General, Accent, and Task lighting.  For instance in a kitchen you have general lighting through recessed lights and ceiling lights.  Your task lighting will come from under cabinet lights.  These lights help with the task of preparing food.  Finally some ambient light would be used to accent china cabinets, glass cabinets, etc.  With these three different types of light your kitchen atmosphere is complete.

Understanding Tech Track (T-Track)

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

T~trak (Tech Trak) is the first-ever hand-bendable, line-voltage track lighting system. The award-winning design features a sleek metal track that can be curved in the field to form practically any shape, while simultaneously providing powerful and versatile illumination options.

To calculate the amount of track you'll need for an organic shape, draw the Tech Trak to scale (for example, ΒΌ" =1'). Use a piece of string to "trace" the drawing. Measure the length of string, then convert from your scale.

Use standoff supports every four feet of a Tech Trak run. For best appearance, place the last standoff 4-6" from the end of the run, and place standoffs symmetrically, altering between standoffs with connector where track sections join together and standoffs without connector in the center of each 8' track section.

T-Track is a form of recessed and track lighting.

Crystal Chandeliers Nothing states sophistication and elegance like a high quality chandelierChandeliers can be placed in foyers, dining areas, great rooms, living rooms, or any other space that you would like to accent in your home.

Chandeliers are often used as the key element in the decor of dining areas, and are functional for lighting these areas. If you are looking for a chandelier for your dining room, the minimum diameter of the chandelier should be about half the width of your table. For rooms with an 8-foot ceiling, the bottom of the chandelier should hang 30-32 inches above the tabletop.

There are many ways to use chandeliers to accent your decor while lighting your home. Several chandelier styles are outlined below. For a free half-hour lighting design consultation, call us at 1-800-922-1469 or simply use our contact form

Crystal Chandeliers

Crystal chandeliers are a gorgeous addition to any room. Inspired by traditional European style, these fixtures give any space a beautiful glow.  When the light from these fixtures hits the crystal, the effect is stunning.

There are many styles of crystal chandeliers that incorporate high quality crystals with elegant style.  World-renowned crystal brands such as Swarovski are used to make beautiful lighting fixtures.

Brass & Crystal ChandeliersBrass and Crystal Chandeliers

Brass and crystal chandeliers combine old world charm with sophisticated style. The contrast of the brass and crystal makes these chandeliers dramatic statement pieces.

Brass and crystal chandeliers are available in a range of striking styles.  They also come in a variety of sizes to fit any space.

Contemporary Chandeliers

Contemporary chandeliers are unique lighting fixtures that are both eye catching and functional. They combine modern style with creative lighting design.

Contemporary chandeliers come in a vast variety of styles, shapes, and sizes. You are sure to find one that fits your contemporary taste and specific needs.

Traditional ChandeliersTraditional Chandeliers

Traditional chandeliers evoke the styles of particular eras throughout time. There are many traditional chandelier styles to choose from. They provide classic designs and timeless elegance that can be enjoyed for generations.

Transitional Chandeliers

Transitional chandeliers combine traditional and modern style with unique lighting designs. The transitional style often pairs muted colors with stylish statement pieces. Transitional chandeliers are the perfect statement piece for a transitional room, as they add elegance and intrigue to your lighting design.

Arts and Crafts Chandeliers

Arts and crafts chandeliers are interesting lighting fixtures that are made using Tiffany style glass panels and fine metals.  They are conversation pieces with creative flair.  Arts and crafts chandeliers can provide functionality while giving your space a unique look.

Billiard & Island LightingBilliard and Island Lighting

Billiard lighting and island lighting is used to light game rooms and kitchens.  These eye catching fixtures hang over billiard tables and kitchen islands and provide style and functionality.

Hanging lights over your billiard table helps with visibility while you enjoy your game room. Installing similar lights above your kitchen island helps with food preparation.

When hanging lights above your billiard table, remember that their purpose is to light the table, not the entire room. If they are hung too high, they can shine in players' eyes. If they are hung too low, they can easily be hit during play. As a general rule, pool table lights should be hung about 32 inches above the bed of the table.

Kitchen island lights should hang about 36 inches from the island top. Just like billiard lights, they can cause problems if they are hung too high or too low, particularly if there are stools at the island. If kitchen lights are hung too high they will shine in the eyes of those that sit on the stools.  If the lights are hung too low, they can block the line of vision across the island.

Billiard and Island Lighting comes in a variety of styles and sizes to fit your specific needs.

Pot RacksPot Racks

You can also hang a pot rack over a kitchen island to provide both functional lighting and a space to hang pots and pans. Pot racks can showcase collections of cooking tools while adding to the lighting design of any kitchen.

Monorail Chandeliers

Monorail Chandeliers are very unique lighting fixtures that are made from blown glass and metal. The result is a striking look that can accent residential, restaurant, or commercial environments.

You can use monorail chandeliers to provide functionality and sophisticated style in any space. Incorporating monorail chandeliers into your lighting design is sure to create a beautiful and elegant look.
